A mother, after a divorce, put it this way, declining to label it on the dichotomy of good/bad, she said, "It is a recognition that what existed is irretrievably broken and that something else must be built in its place." She had to children and after a short marriage, she and her husband realized their relationship was "irretrievably broken."
"Something must be built in its place"
Serving your country should not cost you your children
Military service members give much in the service of their country. They often spend years overseas on extended deployments, and during the last decade or so, they have frequently spent time in combat zones, risking their very lives every day. And while there is much discussion of how they are heroes, if they have children, they may find their treatment is often far from heroic.
When litigation gets out of hand
Divorce is always a paradox of the similar and the very different. Every divorce in Missouri involves two parties who wish to separate their lives from each other. Some require litigation, some are amicable. In some cases, the divorce can help the children by lessening the tension and stress and in others, it makes little difference as the couple continues their battles through the courts. And some are beyond words. It is unclear exactly what is going on a divorce involving a couple and their three children in Michigan. At one point this summer, the judge had the three children placed in a juvenile detention facility to enforce one of her orders involving their meeting with their father for lunch.
In divorce court, its women first
A modern marriage contains many contradictions. It is now seen more as a meeting of equals, with similar interests, tastes and for many, incomes. Yet many relationships still maintain elements of the Eisenhower-era, and women still carry on with much of the traditional domestic duties in the household, sometimes in spite of their working outside the home.
